Where- and What- to Eat in Glen Ellen
Where to Eat in Glen Ellen (and Exactly What to Order)
Glen Ellen is small, but it eats big. For a village you can walk end to end in a few minutes, it's packed with places worth a special trip.
We live and work here, so these are the spots we actually go to on our days off. Not just where to eat, but the specific dish we'd order. Here's a local's guide to eating your way through Glen Ellen, from morning coffee to a nightcap.
Breakfast: Garden Court Cafe
Order: the Valley of the Moon Benedict
Start your day the way locals do. Garden Court's Valley of the Moon Benedict layers ham, portobello mushroom, and Swiss under hollandaise. It's hearty, a little earthy, and exactly what you want before a day of wine tasting or hiking Jack London State Park.
A Sweet Stop: Les Pascals
Order: the macarons
This little French pâtisserie is a treat. Pick up a box of macarons for the road, or for the friends you're meeting later. Bright, delicate, and gone far too fast.
Lunch: The Mill
Order: the BLT
You might think you know what a BLT is. You don't, until you've had this one. The bacon here is closer to thick-cut pork belly: rich, smoky, and unapologetic. It's the kind of sandwich you'll still be thinking about on the drive home.
Lunch or Dinner: Yeti
Order: the chicken momos, saag paneer, and a mango lassi
Yeti serves Himalayan and Indian food, and it's a local favorite for good reason. Start with the chicken momos, tender steamed dumplings that are impossible to share. Follow with the saag paneer, and cool it all down with a mango lassi.
Dinner: Glen Ellen Star
Order: the tomato cream pie pizza and the homemade ice cream
The wood-fired oven is the heart of Glen Ellen Star. Get the tomato cream pie pizza and save room for the homemade ice cream. Trust us on that second part.
Dinner: Songbird Parlour
Order: the Wednesday prime rib
Of course we saved our own spot for last. Songbird Parlour is a farm-to-table restaurant and wine bar in Jack London Village, set in a Victorian-inspired parlour that feels like dinner at a dear friend's home.
If you can, come on a Wednesday. That's prime rib night, and it has become a weekly ritual for a lot of our regulars. Pair it with a glass of local Sonoma Valley wine, settle in, and stay for dessert.
Any other night, you'll find a seasonal menu built around what local farms are growing right now, and a wine list that leans proudly on our neighbors.
Plan Your Glen Ellen Food Day
Glen Ellen rewards the slow traveler. Eat breakfast at Garden Court, grab macarons at Les Pascals, hike or taste your way through the afternoon, then end the day with dinner at Songbird.
We'd love to see you at the table. Wednesday prime rib goes fast, so we recommend booking ahead.
